If I cast my mind back to my childhood, I can always remember having an interest in being creative. This was elevated when my parents bought me a cam-corder for my 10th birthday. I was always creating home-videos and stop-motion clay animations and editing them on my computer. (My mum and dad probably got sick of me always cluttering up the dining table with my creations.) My parents also bought me a couple of cameras throughout the years. I would always take snaps on our family holidays and enjoy looking at them as a family once we returned home. Eventually, I saved up enough pocket money to buy my own DSLR camera which allowed me to find my feet with my style of photography.

I struggled slightly when leaving secondary school and deciding what to do as a career. I knew that I wanted to be creative but wasn’t sure of what my options were and how to get into doing what I love. I opted to study my A Levels at college, however, halfway through I decided that this wasn’t for me. I applied for a place on an Extended Diploma in Creative Media course and got an unconditional offer for the September. Two years studying on this course allowed me to learn new skills and media topics. After passing with a Merit, I then stayed with the college to study a BA (Hons) in Lens Based Media.

Three years studying on my degree and working hard allowed me to hone in my skills, develop my portfolio and produce work to a more professional standard. I particularly enjoyed my time in the photography studio and working on projects that involved graphic design elements; advertising photography being a particular favourite. It was my time spent on my degree and learning from my tutors which really inspired me with my photography and graphic design work.

In the summer of 2020, I passed my degree with a First and eventually graduated in the October of the following year (postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic).

In my previous employment I assisted with events materials, created posters, flyers, banners and marketing materials for the business before being offered a position within Just Begin. If you enquire, it will be myself you will be contacting. I am proud to say that I am using my degree qualification in my everyday work.

When not being creative digitally and focusing on my career, I have a keen interest in baking and cooking. I enjoy making macarons; cakes and patisseries and I am always up for trying new recipes – I love a culinary challenge.

P.s The tortoise, guinea pigs and cockapoo are mine.
